Gently rolling hills near the Potomac river provide an idyllic setting for this neighborhood of about 400 homes,
most of which were built in the 1940's and early 1950's. Nearly all were originally modest brick homes
of a colonial style, but over the years most have been updated, renovated and expanded. The Woodacres Association
works with homeowners to be sure all remodeling projects maintain the architectural continuity of the area.
The proximity to Washington DC and an easy commute combined with an excellent public school system make the neighborhood
a magnet for professionals with families. There are several community events throughout the year, as well as numerous
neighborhood sports teams.
Shopping and Dining are within a few minutes drive in several locations--Downtown Bethesda, Friendship Heights in Chevy
Chase, Tyson's Corner Virginia, and Georgetown in DC. Whole Foods, Giant Foods, and Safeway are all only one mile away.

Glen Echo Park is a former amusement park which has been renovated by the National Park Service into a center for arts
and crafts.

The Capitol Crescent trail is an old railroad grade which runs just south of Woodacres and has been converted into a
paved jogging/cycling trail which runs from Silver Spring to downtown Washington.

The Woodacres Association organizes several activities each year including a Fourth-of -July Parade.
