Public transportation

This home is 1 block from a stop on the #29 Ride-On bus, which provides direct access to the Friendship Heights Metro station seven days a week. Friendship Heights is on the Red Line, which runs from Shady Grove road in Gaithersburg through Rockville, Bethesda, Tenleytown, Cleveland Park, Dupont Circle, Chinatown, and Union station. Bus transfers can also be made at Friendship Heights for access to nearly any location in Washington DC or the suburbs.

Bicycling

The Capitol Crescent Trail, an old railroad grade which is now a paved multi-use path, runs just south of Woodacres. It begins in Silver Spring, runs through downtown Bethesda and ends in Georgetown. It is a good cycling route to either downtown DC or downtown Bethesda.

Driving

Access to downtown DC by car is easy from this location. Many commuters choose to take Canal Road, which ends at M Street in Georgetown near the Key Bridge. One can also take Massachusetts avenue for a more direct route to American University, Embassy Row, Dupont Circle, the World Bank or Capitol Hill.

The Capitol Beltway is approximately 2 miles north and most easily accessed via River Road. It is the quickest route to much of Northern Virginia including the Tyson's Corner malls, Langley, McClean, and northern/western Arlington.
